QR code generator for asset tags
Type an asset ID or a link. Get a crisp QR code to print on an asset label, as PNG or SVG. It all happens in your browser.
Making QR codes that scan in the field
Asset labels get scratched, painted over and read from awkward angles. Higher error correction lets a damaged code still scan, at the cost of a denser pattern; Medium suits most indoor assets and High suits labels on plant and vehicles. Print on durable polyester or metal labels for anything outdoors.
Encode the asset’s ID, not its description. The ID never changes, and the record behind it can say everything else.
Common questions
Is this QR code generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no sign-up, and the codes it makes never expire.
What should an asset tag QR code contain?
Usually just the asset’s ID or a link to its record. Keep it short: a shorter code prints larger modules and scans more reliably from a distance or on a worn label.
What size should a printed QR code be?
As a rule of thumb, the code should be at least a tenth of the scanning distance wide: 1 inch for 10 inches away. Leave a quiet margin around it.
